Smart City Futures

The Conversation Continues

Tales of New Cities

09.55—10.15

Speakers:

Classic Sci-fi narratives from the recent past intermingle seamlessly with current realities. This comes as no real surprise: Sci-fi is based on current trends exaggerated to the nth degree as a way of exploring what the future could look like if trends continue to grow unchecked

We live in a time where computer simulation, electronic publishing and information technology are converging into an era of interactive communication never before possible. It is possible and relatively commonplace to have a virtual office, virtual meetings with global collaborators, exchanging information, graphics, and analysis with them: all in real time and all in cyberspace

At the same time in this Brave New World, the devastating effect of climatic change is forcing millions of people to move to cities  Through story telling, Lesley will explore where we are now and, outlining a range of challenges and opportunities, imagine what the future might look like
