David Shaw has over 20 years industry experience in IT and Telecommunications and is Director, Industry & Public Sector for Alcatel-Lucent in the UK & Ireland.  In this sector, Alcatel-Lucent design, build, operate and manage end-to-end telecommunications-based solutions in Transport, Utilities and the Public Sector to customers such as Network Rail, the Highways Agency and many local Authorities.  In particular, Alcatel-Lucent is a leader in Next Generation super fast broadband networks and is providing some of the earliest projects with public funding to address UK broadband ‘not spots’ for local authorities to attract new inward investment, address the social divide and stimulate new media industries unconstrained by shortcomings in telecommunications capacity or unreasonable cost.  Projects include a joint venture with Gateshead Council as part of their regeneration plans for a sustainable future local economy and the announcement in the recent budget of a major new public broadband network investment in South Yorkshire.
